Thanks to all of you who provided insight into overwintering my Nerine bowdenii. I guess I will simply bring the pot inside and place it on a window sill in a room we keep at 15 C. It is the only spot we have that is not heated. My other option would be to unpot them, dry them and store them. I got my Nerine some time in June and planted them at the time. They started flowering mid/late August and are still full bloom, even after a couple of morning frosts. For our UK friends who provided insight, it does get kind of cold here in winter. The regular daytime temperature is -10 C and nights are usually -20 C. We do have colder days/nights, but there is no doubt the Nerine wouldn't survive outside. Once again, thanks to all. J. In its native habitat it would be fairly dry and cold in winter, though here in the NYC area it is anything but dry in winter. Probably best to bring your pot indoors when the leaves yellow (or when really hard frosts threaten) and keep in a cool/cold area and rather dry for winter. Incidentally the flowers come so late that they can get nipped by frost, so keeping it a pot that can be moved indoors can be an advantage. >Ernie DeMarie >Briarcliff Manor, NY Z6/7 > > > > >_______________________________________________ >pbs mailing list >pbs@lists.ibiblio.org >http://pacificbulbsociety.org/list.php >http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/ > > >
