I appreciate that so many made response to my question. However, only two people answered my question! I asked, not about what lasted longest (the stone tablet takes care of that), but how long the PC generated label (applied by laser to a strip that adheres to a vinyl tab) lasted. I had seen 5 years without degradation. Tim says at least 8 years, Lee says at least 6. I have tried virtually all of these, including the steel one and have believed for some time that the labels made by attaching tape laminate to an underlying body (of heavy vinyl, for instance) were the best and most practical for labels that have to last in rain and sun for years. What I did not know was the maximum life expectancy. Now I have a lower estimate. Thanks Andrew San Diego
