Anemone blanda etc

Dear All,
My 2 cents from the center of the US. Anemone blanda is just
fine here with heat and cold. I grow 'White Splendor' in full sun on
a W. facing slope that bakes, as well as in open shade along with
blues in various shades and purchased pink and seedling pinks. Most
plant themselves around and seedlings are all welcome additions.

Rodger is absolutely right about soaking the dry bulbs at
least over night before planting them and expect some losses. It is
rather shameful the way these are handled by the Dutch wholesalers. I
guess enough survive that they don't really care to treat them
properly.

Although my sunny site 'bakes' it is very heavy clay soil so
it doesn't really dry out so much as 'crusts over' and stay slightly
moist 4 to 6 inches deep. We also get an occasional midsummer storm
to freshen the soil moisture.

I grow A. nemerosa in more shade along the same slope and
they too go totally dormant in late spring.

	Love 'em all. Jim W.
