Jim, Peter Goldblatt in his 1996 book, "Gladiolus in Tropical Africa," puts Acidanthera into Gladiolus. Most of his more recent work has been based on DNA studies, but this appears to have been based on traditional morphological considerations. He has been broadening some of the genera of Southern Africa in recent years, and this seems to be part of that general trend. Most folks seem unwilling to challenge Peter on anything, and he probably likes it that way. He does not seem to be a wishy-washy type of person. I don't know if Mobot still lists him on their roster or not; I don't think he is ever there anymore. He lives in Oregon and probably does most of his work at Kirstenbosch, which is where I met him, by accident, one time.
