only a couple of years ago I called Adam; He and I were both directors of the Aril Iris Society International (ASI) and I wanted to get to know him even better after a long history of e-mails. Sadly his hearing had been going and a phone conversation just was not a good thing. His wit and enthusiasm are unmatched and there are still many things I had hoped to talk with him about. He always was interested in promoting plant information among many people. He was, I believe, a Psychologist and had traveled to the Near East looking at plants. There were many things about plant history that I would have liked to ask. I will miss him greatly. How could anyone not consider the places where plants that we enjoy grow. We all focus on the things that can interfere with growing these plants as well as the things that are necessary for them to thrive. ( pollinators/symbiotic organisms). I never met Adam but spoke on the telephone about a trade for some Lycoris sprengeri he craved that I had. I think I may have met him at the IBS symposium in Chicago a number of years ago. A man with a true passion for plants! Arnold
