Like northern California, the south Washington coast had a dry, mild fall with low temperatures around 30F. As a consequence, plants that normally stop flowering due to lack of sunlight around Thanksgiving are still in flower. Flowering now: Cyclamen hederifolium (pink and white), primroses, Ipheion uniflorum, Polyxenia tubiflora (in the cold frame), and the occasional crocus (LOLA). Iris unguicularis has yet to flower, and Iris thompsonii, which usually pops out a flower stem or two midwinter, is also without this week.
