I've forgotten the name, but there is a program which certifies collections held by North American botanic gardens. A bg can't just set itself up as the main collector of a particular plant - there are procedures which must be followed, an expert travels to inspect, and the collection must be maintained properly. I wonder if there is a bg designated for North American lilies.
