Hi Justin:

That is a much sought after species but results from seed have not been rewarding. Your comments explain such failures.

IN THE WILD, the plants is active in autumn/winter and spring and dormant in summer? Flowers in spring?

OR, they are active in spring, summer and autumn and dormant in winter? Flowers in summer?

              OTHER?

Thanks for the input

Regds

> Earlier I sent in seed of Alophia drummondii to the BX. I wanted to make sure those of you who got some need to be patient. Germination the first fall is rather abysmal. Though a few could germinate. Don't give up on them. I leave my seed outdoors year round. The second fall you will see them germinate very well.

> Once sprouted I keep watering mine until they decide to go dormant, which is much later than those in the wild due to the extra moisture. The young bulbs can reward you with later than normal blooms their first summer. Since we get some summer rains they do tolerate some moisture while dormant.
