Iain, Thank you for the detailed information about Nomocharis. The only lily that thrives for me is szovitzianum which I grew from seed in 1976. It hasn't increased, though. It is still just one plant. I suspect that successful lily growers would use the word "survive" instead of "thrive". Oh, mackliniae does OK too, and a couple of seedling martagons. I am probably one of the best customers the RHS Lily Group seed exchange has, and every year I plant more seedling lilies behind a deer fence. I can't see Nomocharis liking it here, though. They might make it over in Vancouver which gets two or three times as much rain as Victoria, and where Meconopsis will grow.
