As every plant lover can probably understand, I have a $4000 natural gas fired emergency generator for the big greenhouse but nothing for our home. I suppose we could camp out in that greenhouse if need be. We're lucky -- the first storm did not take out our electric power, and we were plowed out in only 36 hours. The second storm, this morning's, almost missed us. We have only 1 to 2 inches of new snow here in Westfield today. Most of this winter's bad weather seems to have gone either north or south of us. There are worse places to be right now than Westfield. I have buds on Clivia plants in the big greenhouse: on a Pen Henry White; on two red seedlings from [Abigail x Doris]; on Solomone's 'Apricot' (actually a peach color); on a Solomone "Light Peach;" and on a Jim Holmes 'Butterball'. None of these have bloomed here before. What fun!
