Hi Nhu, There are probably two species to consider for reporting the distribution; both are syrphids (hoverflies); both are pests of Amaryllids. Merodon equestris - Large Bulb / Narcissus Fly http://aphotofauna.com/hoverfly_merodon_equestris_… There are also about six different vars. (colour forms of Merodon equestris), just to confuse people. Eumerus tuberculatus - Small / Lesser Bulb / Narcissus Fly http://www.bioimages.org.uk/html/p4/p44393.php Another hoverfly to report which may cause a problem with alliaceae is the Marmalade Fly, Episyrphus balteatus; this species is generally accepted as a beneficial insect as it's an aphd preditor; however I've noticed that it prefers to lay its eggs on Tulbagia when there is no reason for it to do so. It would be interesting if anyone else is aware of this or knows of this species being a pest. http://aphotofauna.com/hoverfly_episyrphus_balteat… Nhu, if you wanted to use the images from the aphotofauna sites above on the wiki, help yourself. I'm sure I've probably got images of Eumerus tuberculatus as well. Best Wishes, Dave David Fenwick 3 Post Office Terrace, Nanpean, Nr. St. Austell, Cornwall.
