Roland,

As a horticulturist, scientist and someone who has a fair deal of experience
with the nursery and landscaping trade, I feel that I understand both sides
of this. Whether we like it or not, botanical science serves a greater
focus than that of horticulturists alone. We can chose to ignore it or
benefit from it. Good science does not discriminate based on anthropogenic
thought and it is always in flux. By definition the journey of discovery
will always result in a changed understanding of that which is being
studied. I doubt any taxonomist actually takes pleasure in the confusion
often felt in the marketplace of plants after name changes.
