My Iris unguicularis has been blooming for a week or two now. It got very little water to almost no water all summer so having summer rainfall can't be the reason for it to bloom. I looked at the dates I have taken pictures and there are many years with pictures taken in November so I suspect that is the usual case. It never is dormant and every year I just barely remember to cut the leaves off at ground level just as it is starting to bloom. I don't think it would be an easy plant to share. Kathleen will need to come to Northern California some summer for a visit and help divide it. I assume that would be the best time to accomplish this and pot it up afterwards.
