One thing I've noticed about my H. papilio (and similarly my Sprekelia) is that the bases of the filaments and style are practically enclosed by the edges of the lower petal. This seems to be different from other Hippeastrums where all the tepals are more or less flat, or at any rate, not enclosing the bases of these sexual parts.
