Dear friends,
While having a cuppa this morning and surveying the grounds
(HA!), we saw a bit of orange where nothing had been showing. A
closer inspection revealed the 3rd flower on Lycoris sanguinea
kiusiana. This is usually the first Lycoris to bloom i the season.
Time to weed the Lycoris beds so we can see them all.

	L. sanguinea , a Japanese species, does not bloom here each
year and it is fairly marginal in regard to hardiness. I only have a
few bulbs and not all bloom at once even if irregular. The flowers
are very regular in form and an orange-tangerine in color. Flowers
are not large or showy, but from the above comments, they do stand
out in there own way. TAke a look.
