Hi, Robert has nice pictures of his flowers that look like Hippeastrum papilio with narrower petals to Diane W. and me that he sent as attachments when he posted to this list as a nonmember. I am sure he would be willing to share them with Hippeastrum fans to help him in identification. Sorry, but I don't have time to downsize them and add them to the wiki Mystery page as I'm still making corrections. Mary Sue >The picture very much correspond with that of my plant. On other sites I >found however other pictures of so-called Hippeastrum papilio that present >Hippeastrum features such as broad petals. Did the few butterfly bulbs >have such rich genetic potential on their own or is it this huge variation >in features the result of (un)controled hybridization? If so the question >is: which were the shape and colour pattern of the original Hippeastrum >papilio found in Brasil's southern Atlantic Forest.
