The × appears by holding down the Alt key and touching 0 2 1 5 in
sequence on the number keys to the right of the key board.
Num Lock has to be on.
A couple of other very handy ones are degrees ° Alt 0176 and ñ is Alt 0241.
Searching under Basic Windows Character Map will yield lots more.
