AS a second hand experience, The only time I have seen Proiphys amboinensis growing well was as an understory to bananas in the Missouri Botanical Garden's Climatron, a huge very tropical greenhouse complex. There it was blooming and seem to be spreading. I doubt it ever goes below 50 degrees F ( likely never gets much below 60) and is kept well watered with high humidity. Considering its tropical origins this seems fitting. Any season chill below this seems ill advised. Jim W. -- Dr. James W. Waddick 8871 NW Brostrom Rd.
