Ipheion

As per Harold and others, Ipheion is aggressive and persistent in Southern California. A nice plant to naturalize under roses, with an alternate season. But not for a tidy garden. I now keep mine mostly all in pots, where they are quite happy and don't become pests. Once in the ground they can be difficult to remove, the small bulbs multiplying quickly and easily distributed through cultivation, movement of soil, etc.

'Wisley Blue', 'Rolf Fielder', 'Album', 'Alberto Castillo, 'Charlotte Bishop' and 'Froyle Mill all doing well here. 'Jessie' just finished its first year of bloom . . . deeper blue flower color that 'Rolf Fielder' and broader foliage.
