The averages may be O.K. but month by month it's horrid. January record-breaking mild temperatures, March record-setting drought - fingers crossed for April showers but everything seems to divert around us. Oh well. Meanwhile, the garage storage area has pots of bulbs insisting that it's time to grow. Quick question - a large pot with three bulbs of Eucomis pole-evansii has sunken soil. Should I A) just pile some more soil over the bulbs which each have a nice green shoot showing or B) tip everything out and re-pot? Put shade cloth up on the greenhouse this morning. Seemed like an appropriate task to follow setting all the clocks ahead by an hour. Judy in sunny and dry New Jersey.
