Bonaventure Magrys asked: Anyone grows this [Platanthera blephariglottis var. conspicua] tuberous rooted moist sand/bog growing perennial? I grow this species (Platanthera blephariglottis, aka Habenaria blephariglottis) in my bog trays. It is evidently one of the more adaptable members of the genus, and I've heard reports of it doing well for others, too. It's an interesting coincidence that you should have mentioned this species today: only this morning I noticed that it has its foliage up above the sphagnum in the bog trays. I don't know the form conspicua. Jim McKenney Montgomery County, Maryland, USA, USDA zone 7, where the buds are bustin', the toads are singing and the turtle is plopping: it's spring!
