camera buffs out there with an idea why?

Back light with weak, early morning sunlight, shoot against a dark,
non-reflective cloth (velvet) and underexpose 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 stops. Compensate for
underexposure in Photoshop: layer>new adjustment layer>levels or
brightness/contrast (I prefer levels). With a little fiddling about one can capture that
sparkle. This technique also works for white or pale colored flowers that
don't image well. Some people have success using "cloud domes" or "cloud tents"
with natural or artificial light. Printing the image may require more
fiddling but the above should prove more than satisfactory for web use.
