My apologies to anyone who got this earlier today. I first posted this at 2:10 P.M. today, and it has yet to appear in my inbox. Jerry John Flintoff wrote: " I grew Muscari armeniacum ' Saffier ' in a previous garden and it bore racemes of florets that remained closed-- an oddity of curiosity value only." Jerry, that's exactly what caught my attention. It seems as if 'Saffier' is to Muscari as 'Komachi' is to Platycodon. Your tastes in Muscari are evidently a bit more refined than mine: I find even Muscari comosum interesting. Jim McKenney Montgomery County, Maryland, USA, USDA zone 7, inside temporarily until the rain lets up a bit and then I'll be back outside planting. The recent freezes took the Hosta, but the Arum italicum are filling the void.
