>What say the iris experts in the group? Excellent advice from everyone so far. I have little to add of my own, but want to echo several IMPORTANT points. Spurias resent frequent disturbance. They perform best if planted in a place where they can be left alone for 5-10 years before digging & dividing them. This is in stark contrast to the bearded irises which should be dug/divided about every 2-3 years. They may take a year or two to settle in, but they will reward you with wonderful blooms! Mine all grow to about 4 feet tall. Ants love the nectar in the blooms. Dennis in Cincy PS: You can learn more about some of the various species of spurias at http://www.badbear.com/signa/
