Agapanthus africanus occurs sparsely in the mountains above Napier, the village where we live in the Southern Cape. It occurs in rocky outcrops in very sandy acid soil derived from Table Mountain sandstone (quartsite). It flowers in late summer. I had very poor germination from fresh seed collected last summer. We will send a picture of wild plants to be posted on the wicki.
