Jim McKenney wrote, >Jane repeats the misconception that Cardiocrinum is monocarpic. I wrote "monocarpic bulb," meaning precisely that, the bulb, not "monocarpic species with a bulb." The bulb that flowers, as Jim says, dies. If the plant has grown well, offsets remain that will flower in a few years. I was aware as I wrote it that "bulb" is loosely used in the other sense, but I didn't take the time to discuss the potential ambiguity, and now I have to write another message!
