I have a two pots of E. 'First Red' that I got from Dave Fenwick. They are still small bulbs from leaf cuttings. I can never give them enough water in the summer. They usually are forced into an early dormancy each summer. I wish I would get them to some size as I love them. I have tried Eucomis once in Ohio as a garden subject but I think I put it in an area with too much competition from the ground cover. I would love to be able to get large bulbs that can over winter there. How do they do with shade?
