Jim, I don't know how cold your cold frames get, but if they warm above freezing the next day I would think you should try some Lachenalia in there. I live in a much warmer place, but I often see overnight lows in the mid 20s F between November - February. Of course, this will be for 6 hours or less, and it is always well above freezing the next day, and the soil does not freeze even in pots. I have found several Massonia and Lachenalia frozen to popsicles in the morning; in the afternoon they are thawed out and were just fine. Leo Martin Phoenix Arizona USA
