It's pretty dead around here in the greenhouses, and very dead outside them. There is even a lull in the flowering of the cyclamen right now. One thing is in bloom: I have my first flowers on some bulbs of Haemanthus pauculifolius, a relative of H. albiflos (the White Paintbrush). These were grown from seeds from Rachel & Rod Saunders' Silverhill Seeds. The narrow umbels of pauculifolius have bright green bracts surrounding the white flowers. I have not photographed these yet, but an image of H. albiflos is at: http://shieldsgardens.com/amaryllids/… Jim Shields in cold, wintry central Indiana (USA) ************************************************* Jim Shields USDA Zone 5 Shields Gardens, Ltd.
