This interesting discussion on S.natalensis is forcing me to try this species soon !

I am quite surprised to hear that for Paul Tyerman S.peruviana (which is next to bloom for me) is evergreen in Canberra. Here, (that means virtually in habitat) it 'disappears' in June and come back in October with the first rains. I was wondering if the S.natalensis could set to a Mediterranean growth pattern here (winter growing), as do the Crinum moorei, Zantedeschia aethiopica and Freesia alba.
Funny that some people in northern Italy and UK found odd that for me C.moorei is deciduous in summer, while Zantedeschia flowers in January. I found even more odd their surprise !
