Greetings I've grown Allium akaka for many years ( came as seed as something else ). Doesn't increase vegetatively for me and doesn't self-seed. It's not as nice as A. karataviense but there's a je ne sais quoi about it that keeps me growing it. I find the name fascinating--I suppose it's an infantile recollection of "kaka" and kindergarden humor. One would assume that it is a local name for the bulb. Jerry Vashon Island,WA, USA zone 8
