Yes, Mary Sue, Gynandriris simulans is a summer grower. See the flowering times in the original message. It will demand a very dry winter. As for the unknown bulb if the color is right, it looks very much like a naturalized Romulea (rosea? minutiflora?). Foliage is not of Brodiaea and the scape twisting on the right resembles very much a Romulea's. Brodiaea terrestris could be an alternative from the organs' appearance but the foliage looks too succulent.
