Dear All, I am erratic in including my garden information after my signature so I am guilty here too, but it is especially helpful when there are posts about what grows in your garden to include this information. New people are joining this list every day or two (most are lurking) and if you have told us about where you live before they aren't going to know. This is crucial information if we are going to generalize to our own gardens. Allium is obviously a good case in point as there are so many of them and they can't all be grown in all of our microclimates. I remember a number of years ago on the IBS list when I was complaining about some of my "weeds" that Mary Irish in Arizona wrote to me to send my weeds to her as she was sure they wouldn't be weeds in the Arizona desert. The worst weed here is one that John Bryan says he absolutely is unable to grow in San Francisco and it is Allium triquetrum. It has naturalized and survives without any summer water. We saw so much of it in Australia and New Zealand that my husband said it should be renamed Allium pestum. Mary Sue
