Arnold wrote in regard to plant guidebooks and their limitations: >Which is why the Wiki Wiki can be all the more valuable. Problem is you >can't take it with you. But you can! There is a CD-ROM version of a very elaborate guide to plants of the Pacific Northwest states (not California yet), reviewed in a recent issue of the Rock Garden Quarterly and now distributed through the New York Botanical Garden, I believe. And the new AGS journal has a review of a very inexpensive CD-ROM guide to plants of the Mediterranean. Other references of this type exist, too. Now all we have to do is get little notebook computers to view them, with good rechargeable batteries, and converters that we won't be scared to use anywhere, including hotels in the Atacama with loose electric wires strung all over the walls.... I'm sure technology will catch up with our desires in this regard; then our problem will be catching up with the technology. Jane McGary
