Anemone seed is ripe well before it looks to be so. With the anemones that have achenes such as blanda and nemorosa, we just gently touch them and if they come off without much pressure, they are ready to harvest (and sow), even though they look green. This is also true with Hepatica and Anemonella. If one waits, generally it is too late and the seed is lost on the ground.
