Hi Cathy et al: Yes, the stolons cut indicate the bulbs may be true Rolf Fiedler, which is incidentally a species different than uniflorum. Now that these bulbs are mass produced do look for streakings in their flowers which will indicate the presence of virus. Year ago, I had to destroy my bulbs of Wisley Blue and Froyle Mill from England as they were virused. Bulbs of RF and uniflorum have perennial roots and must not be overdried while dormant in summer or they will perform poorly. In the wild they receive year round rains although of course in summer the soil moisture is only slight. Regards Alberto
