There was a question as to whether anyone was growing Tecophilaea violiflora. I have a few plants in the summer-dry bulb frame, and one of them flowered for the first time last spring. It was prettier than I thought it would be. I believe I got the seed from Watson & Flores. I grow my T. cyanocrocus in the same conditions (there will be seed from them in the NARGS seed exchange this year, and don't think it wasn't a wrench parting with it). Incidentally, I also flowered a plant grown from their seed distributed only as Liliaceae, and it turned out to be a green-flowered Gilliesia, possibly the least attractive bulb in my entire collection: stem about 14 inches tall, flower about 1 cm across. Definitely "of botanical interest only." Jane McGary
