I was curious if anyone has tried growing Gloxinia nematanthodes as a houseplant? I am in USDA Zone 5 and despite this plant being described as a "hardy" gloxinia it's not going to winter over in the ground here. Yes, I received it as a geophyte (corm? tuber?) from a BX and I am going to store one plant dry, but gosh those red flowers would really brighten up a snowy winter day. So I'm going to experiment: one stored like a dahlia, and one growing in the house like an African violet or a cape primrose. Just curious if anyone has already tried the houseplant route.

Not growing inside, but in my outdoor conditions... It grows and flowers late for me, usually blooming as the fall rains turn into winter wetness...so November into December, then a quick descent into dormancy. Pots left outside all winter do fine, in fact tubers have escaped into the patio pavers. No idea what the triggers are for flowering or dormancy...which could be an issue for growing as a houseplant.
