Hello, if anyone has a copy of this book, I'd appreciate to know if Chlidanthus sorantesis is featured.

Much better, if anyone has a copy to sell, I'd consider his/her price.

Thanks!

You can search and download the book here (free) -  #193 - Amaryllidaceae: tribe Amarylleae, by Hamilton P. Traub and ... - Full View | HathiTrust Digital Library

I could only download one page at a time, but didn't spend any time searching to see if I could download the whole thing. Another quick search did not find Chlidanthus. s.

Have a hunt around the web - it is probably downloadable somewhere as one file.

It says:

"If you are not affiliated with a member institution, whole book download is not available. (Why not?)"

Why Not being a link that explains.

I can't see a whole book download anywhere else...

The book above was published in 1949, the name Chlidanthus soratensis (Chlidanthus sorantesis) was coined in 1971. In 1949, the plant would be called Hippeastrum soratense or Amaryllis soratensis both of which can be  found in the book  - page 95.

Hi, many thanks. The book I am looking for dates from 1963. Of course the plant will be treated as Hippeastrum / Amaryllis, my mistake.

https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/001494884

Chlidanthus belongs in tribe Eustephieae, not Amaryllideae. Again, if the plant is lumped in Amaryllis, it will be featured in a book on this tribe...

Traub died in 1983 and his work should still be covered by copyright (70 years after the author's death, in general).

I just want to know if he typified the name, now I know that he didn't in 1949, so thanks again.

In fact the contents of the 1963 book are just as visible as those of the older book, see:

Chlidanthus appears on page 71 of the book.
