I have a plant labeled as Drimiopsis Sp. which has now produced seed. How and when do I plant them? I live in S. California and generally the plant goes dormant in another few months. Should I wait to plant seeds until Spring when the parent normally wakes up?

As a general rule, Drimiopsis seed is ephemeral, so plant it now - surface sow.
It should fall from the mother plant, but only just, it should not go totally dry.

If it germinates, keep the seedlings cool and JUST moist over the winter, just enough to keep them alive.

My experience matches CG100. I get germination if sown within several months of harvest, but the sooner sown the better the percentage. I've never had year-old Drimia/Drimiopsis/Ledebouria germinate.

I sow them in a well-drained mix. When they germinate, I let them guide me. If they seem to want to go dormant, I back off the water and let them. If they stay green, I keep watering them.

Thank you both. I will get them planted today.
