Hi Peter, I leave all my bulbs in there pots, seedlings , big bulbs, everything in there pots while dormant and then repot (if needed ) at the beginning of there growing season. Here we have a very hot dry summer and wet with occasional frost winter. My summer dormant bulbs get stacked into the potting bench box in the shade thus get the brunt of summer heat but in the shade. I am having great success with this method, and my Lachenalia are king. My winter dormant are subjected to the cold wind off the Sierras but protected from the rain all huddled under the table in out gazebo. I will try to add some pictures.

Hi, I forgot to write down who donated these to the BX 478 , but thank you. I have Lachenalia quadricolor that flowered at the beginning of the season, originally acquired from the UC Davis conservatory. Now this new lot have just opened. Are much shorter in stature and I think more yellow. Older quadricolor in the background. Do you think they are something else ?

Good day to you all, here summer is trying its best to arrive, again a blustering cold wind prevailing. I got this from the last Bx as a Albuca shawii ? Could this be Tulip saxafilis?

General Discussion / Summer growers
August 06, 2022, 05:52:09 PM
Hi all, I was thrilled to receive the bulb exchange Christmas package. The Nerine and Cyrtanthus bulbs still have summer foliage, some other Summer growers have no foliage. My question is: Is it still safe to plant and water these bulbs this late in the season? The summer growers with no foliage I assume would best be kept dry until next Summer? ??Here it is still very hot and dry. Zone 9 , CA northern Central Valley . Any input would be much appreciated.
