PBS Members Affairs / BX arrears
July 10, 2024, 07:15:14 AM
With the arrival of the very large South African Bulb Company order getting closer,   I'd like to ask all of our members to bring their past due amounts up to date.

BX 496 was recently mailed and it looks like all the packages have been delivered.

Our president and BX Director, Bridget will be very busy distributing the order.

Orders will be pre-paid.

Once the bulbs are safely in her grasp I will send out a bill notice to all those who have ordered.

Payments must be made prior to bulbs being shipped.

You will receive a slip for the amount due only for local postage from Bridget to your address of record.

If you aren't sure of any past due amounts please contact me at Arnold140@verizon.net.

Glad to hear your trying to keep the poisons out of our environment.

I use Neem, Spinosad and Pyganic for control of the Oriental Fruit moth, Spotted Lantern Fly and Lily beetles.

I've seen a couple of the lily beetles at the beginning of the season and one shot of Neem seems to have done the trick.

I follow the recommendations of the Cornell site which give you the best days to spray based on temperatures at your local airport.  https://newa.cornell.edu/user

They track the maturation of insects based on degree days.  With the OFM you must spray when the insect is in the larva stage as that's when it is most  susceptible to control.

Last year the SLF was a true pest but I think with  pheromone traps and judicious control the population seems to have decreased significantly.

I find that my Ferrarias dive down to 5-6 inches in a black plastic pot.  I imagine even in a barely heated greenhouse the black plastic warms up.  When I've repotted them the corms are located below the parent corm in little runners.

Sometimes they flower better with a tight root run.

I'd re-pot only with a small increase in diameter.

If you haven't done so already please send me privately  your preferred contact email address.

Arnold140@verizon.net

The shipment should be here in USA with 10 days to two weeks.

I will notify all those who participated about the amount due for bulbs, shipment to US, phyto documentation and transport form the receiving station in Atlanta to Bob Lauf in TN.

You will receive a note with the amount due when the bulbs are sent to you by Bridget, our BX Director.

All:
The order window is now closed for US Members.  Response has been amazing - 37 orders and ranging from a few bulbs to around 500!  So it will take Leigh some time to work through all the orders and pick what is available.  Please be patient and also understanding if things that are in limited supply run out.  You will only be billed for what you actually get.  It looks like each person will pay $1 toward the cost of the phyto certificate and shipping costs will be prorated based on the size of each order.
When it is ready to ship, you will get an invoice from Arnold.  Please pay it promptly!  You will later be responsible for the postage when Bridget ships your package to you.
Here are the orders I have received in the order received.  If you don't see your name on this list, please contact me at once:  boblauf@att.net

Thank you all for your interest and participation.  Helping rare plant suppliers who operate in difficult environments also helps us obtain and preserve these fascinating plants for ourselves and for posterity.  And a big thanks to Bridget and Arnold, who helped figure out how to pull this off and will be doing the really hard work of getting the orders fulfilled and paid for!
Bob  Zone 7 finally the sun is coming out today
