Title: Looking for Crinum bulbs in Canada
Post by: Zxct56y on February 13, 2025, 01:43:21 PM
I live in the Montreal area in QC Canada and i wanted to buy Crinum Bulbispermum and Macowanii bulbs but i tried to buy some in the US but the importation and all of that was too complicated. I bought a Crinum stars and stripes in late april 2022 but i really wanted a Bulbispermum and Macowanii( in my opinons they are the most beautiful Crinums). I've been trying to find crinum bulbs in canada but with little to no success and i almost gave up several times.
Is there anybody that knows were to buy crinum bulbs in Canada?

Try Phoenix Perennials in Richmond BC. They have large number of South African bulbs for sale and will ship within Canada.

Macowanii is hardy, just, in a sheltered spot in the UK, but will be a pot plant in Montreal (mine are too here in the UK, kept 5C minimum in the greenhouse where they are evergreen).

I've actually discovered them a couple of days ago and i ordered several bulbs from them.
The only thing missing is C. Macowanii and Bulbispermum.

Hi, I can probably get small macowanii and bulbispermum grown from seeds from plants / seeds ex Silverhill, I think. How are things in Canada about receiving bulbs?

I tried to import some from the USA but gave up because of too much documentation and the phytosanitary things as well. Canada has strict laws when it comes to importations of plants making it very hard if not sometimes impossible. In Canada Crinums are plants that are kind of rare to find

I planted Crinum bulbispermum last year. When it has babies, I can share with you. I am in Niagara, Ontario. My Crinums are planted out in the garden. Crinum "Super Ellen" had 7 ' long leaves and 4' high flower stem. Keep in touch.

Ok thank you for the info, Crinum Bulbispermum is very very rare in Canada and Crinum Macowanii even rarer. But where did you get your Crinum Bulbispermum?
I would be more than happy to have a few sprouts.
