Pbs List Notes

One common problem subscribers to the PBS list have is not getting all the postings. This can be due to their email hosts filing some posts as spam. Here David Pilling describes how to set up Google gmail to avoid this.

Go to the main screen in gmail. At the top there is a writeable icon with a magnifying glass to the right, just before the magnifying glass there is a downward pointing arrow. Click on the arrow.

You will get a form which allows you to search for emails. In the 'subject' field enter the letters pbs

Now in the bottom right hand corner of the form click on "Create filter with this search", another form appears.

In this new form tick the option "Never send it to Spam" and finally click on 'Create filter' in the bottom left hand corner of the form.

This ensures that any posts from the list will not be put in your gmail spam folder.

Click on the first image below and step through the screen shots of the process described.

Go to gmail...there is a downward pointing arrow. Click on the arrowIn the 'subject' field enter the letters pbs...click on 'Create filter with this search' tick the option 'Never send it to Spam'finally click on 'Create filter'

More subtle filters can be created for example if your list subscription is to individual emails you can use [pbs] in the subject field or the various email fields (like ReplyTo) of posts from the PBS list.
