Jane's are good ideas. Yes, I had frost cloth and sheets over a number of plants such as bromeliads, bilbergias, pineapples, other tender bulbs and seedlings, other delicate cactus and succulents, rose and myrtle seedlings, in a flowerbed next to the house, because I knew they had to have protection. It was the first year I didn't have warmth-producing chains of Christmas tree lights underneath these covers. This type is becoming superseded with leds without much heat. There was an old quilted horse blanket over the geraniums...all sorts of preparations...but who knew the longer period of time at freezing could do so much damage here.
