Happy New Year to all.

I got 5 sprouted seeds of the above in spring 2015 from Silverhill. I put
them on top of damp sphagnum moss in a large jar, formerly housing 2 quarts
/ liters of cocktail olives. I set the jar on its side, with the lid shut,
in my back bathroom. This is the coolest room in my house, and also has a
skylight, providing bright shade during the day. I removed the cover every
few days for a few minutes to provide air exchange.

The room was between 80-95 degrees F / 30-35C through the summer. Two
rotted quickly. Three sent out radicles about an inch long, but did not
grow further. Then there was an unfortunate canine episode resulting in an
environmental dislocation and tumbling, but not a jar fracture. Two of the
remaining three survivors did no tolerate this.

In the past few weeks, that room has had temperatures in the low to mid 50s
F / +/- 7C and the survivor has begun growing strongly. I gently lifted the
moss and reset the plant so I could stand the jar on end and allow the
shoot more head space. The leaf shoot is now brushing the inside of the lid
and I will move it to something taller, like a vase. I think the sphagnum
is a good medium so far.
