Hi Dennis,

You my friend have just come across the dreaded Narcissus Bulb Fly larva. I
have been dealing with these little buggers for a long time. When you have a
chance go to

archives for this sucker and potential ways of rescuing your hippi. Good

HOLY CRAP!!!  I cut into my bulb and found live caterpillars inside.  
GROSS!  What are they??  I never heard of anything in Ohio that would eat a
Hippeastrum bulb from the inside out.  YUCK.
