Hi Nick,

The photo of your flower looks just like the H. striatum that I donated. As
a matter of fact, it comes from the same accession. The one pictured on the
wiki (

is the mother plant. It's quite a small flower, so I don't think it's
puniceum. I do have doubts myself regarding the identities of H. striatum
vs. H. petiolatum.

It does make a profusion of bulblets. And as Alberto pointed out, if
planted raised, they make a lot more bulbils. It's not a bad thing if you
like sharing, such as with the BX. I grew mine from seeds, and I can't
remember if the bulbs were naturally growing above the ground. The best
test is to see if they grew above the ground is to start from seeds.
