Snowdrops in Bloom and early daffodils

I never thought I would do it, but we have a local galanthophile in the NYC area, who is also named Ernie, who sometimes sells unusual galanthus at local rock garden club meetings. So I did get two late autumn/winter blooming ones (would have to check the tags, one of which was moved by some animal). One was rather slender with two white flowers, the other is more robust with greyish broad leaves and still in bloom, and has what appear to be two pups along the side of the mother bulb. Needless to say, at 20 dollars each (growing in pots, but I planted them out), I really want them to multiply and will let them set seed if they do so. The thing I like is having them bloom so early, when nothing else is in bloom, and other than the feet of deer (which will not be a problem when I complete the enclosing of my backyard with u posts and mesh, already have four gardens enclosed by same) they have no critter problems here.
I don't think I'll be on ebay bidding on rare galanthus anytime soon but I have to admit they are charming plants which provide much needed cheer during the most dismal time of the year, and it seems that with the right selections they could be in bloom from fall right thru winter and spring.
As for daffodils, I grow Rijnveld's Early Sensation and really like it, it blooms in latest January in a good year near the wall in my school garden, later in bad years. Have heard much of the famous Cedric Morris daffodil, but not easy to find here in the USA, would like to get it one day.
Apart from the snowdrops, there is a flower on a Helleborus niger, and some nearly open red flowers on an American honeysuckle, but I think the midweek dip in temperatures (we might get single digits one night) will take care of the latter.

where I am sowing seeds indoors like mad, its my way of fighting the winter blahs and looking forward to the next gardening season. Also acquiring more four tube t5 fixtures to replace the t12s, they are so much brighter and the prices are coming down to affordable levels, still not as cheap as t12 fixtures but getting there. Plus bright lights are supposed to be good for the mind in winter too.
