Does anyone know if castor oil is effective against voles?

In Salem, WV, where Erythroniums (2 weeks ago) and Bletilla (last night) have had their buds hit by freezes in this year of roller-coaster weather.

Voles are mouse size or even a little
 smaller. Very short tail, and
small eyes. Plush coat in grayish brown. Breed at a young
 age, breed
frequently, short-lived. Food for hawks, owls, snakes, foxes
 etc. Big
population jump right now because good snow cover meant they
 could
tunnel around all winter out of sight of the hawks and
 owls.
